Leverage AI and EQ for Productive Sales Calls

The Sales Reset You Didn’t Know You Needed – with Ashley Beck Cuellar
If you think AI is here to replace salespeople, Ashley Beck Cuellar wants you to think again. In this episode of Your Intended Message, Ashley shares how she uses artificial intelligence not to write scripts, but to act as a personal sales coach, helping sellers identify scarcity language, missed opportunities, and ways to strengthen their conversations.
Her method is surprisingly simple: record your sales calls, transcribe them, then upload the transcript to ChatGPT. Tell it you want to review the conversation through a lens of abundance and detachment. Ask: Where did I sound desperate? Where did I leave curiosity on the table? The AI not only points out the weak spots but offers rewrites, making your next conversation stronger.
Ashley also stresses the importance of matching your outreach to the prospect’s communication style. “If they text you, text them back,” she says. “If they emailed you, reply by email. It’s about respecting the channel they chose.”
Cold calling? She’s still a fan, when it’s thoughtful and respectful. Her opener: “Hi, this is Ashley. This is a cold call. I know you love these. Do you have 30 seconds?” That honesty builds immediate trust. The key is keeping your promise: take only the time you asked for.
When it comes to discussing money, Ashley says confidence is non-negotiable. “If there’s hesitation in your voice, they can hear that,” she warns. Practice saying your price out loud until it feels natural. Clients are more likely to trust you when you sound certain.
And while tools are helpful, Ashley believes mindset is the most overlooked sales asset. She starts her day and advises others to with “box breathing” (inhale 4, hold 4, exhale 4, hold 4) to calm the nervous system, followed by a reminder: there is enough for all of us.
Whether you’re a sales leader managing a team or a solopreneur making your own calls, Ashley’s blend of emotional intelligence, AI insight, and practical techniques will help you connect more authentically, sell with confidence, and start each day with a mindset of abundance.

Key Lessons from this conversation with Ashley Beck Ceullar.
Learning Point 1 – AI can be a personal sales coach
“Record your calls… upload it to ChatGPT… ask it what language did I use that became attached or scarce.”
Learning Point 2 – Analyze your conversations for missed opportunities
“You can even ask it to pull out moments… where you could have asked another question… adding that curiosity.”
Learning Point 3 – Match your communication channel to the client’s preference
“If they call you, call them back. But if I text you and you call me, then I’m flustered… communicate back the way they contacted you.”
Learning Point 4 – Cold calling is still effective when done thoughtfully
“I am in favor of thoughtful cold outreach… I know who I’m calling, they’re in my ICP, and they have a problem I can solve.”
Learning Point 5 – Build trust quickly with honesty
“Hi, this is Ashley. This is a cold call. I know you love these. Do you have 30 seconds?”
Learning Point 6 – Energy and resilience are critical in high-volume outreach
“An actual ‘no’ was a great message for me… better than a voicemail.”
Learning Point 7 – Introverts and extroverts bring different strengths to sales
“If you’re an over-extrovert, you never listen… introverts will hear things extroverts miss.”
Learning Point 8 – Confidently discuss pricing by knowing your value
“If there’s hesitation in your voice… they can hear that.”
Learning Point 9 – Clients often need guidance to make the best decision
“Part of selling is helping them figure it out on their own and make it their idea.”
Learning Point 10 – Mindset shapes sales performance more than tools
“Mindset is the tool that so many sellers leave out… start with gratitude, abundance, and intent.”
